Water is spouting out from the ground in my town?

when i woke up i saw the water spout from the ground from my window and told my aunt, but it suddenly disappeared, it left water just lying around the ground on the road, it also seemed it had happened right next to my neigh bores road, and there neigh bores and there neigh bores, i didn't see there water spout out, but it looks like it did as it had left water in the road, and it seems like its dried out, what is the cause?
